Senegal 3,000㎡ Cold Storage & Quick-Frozen Storage (Installed Overseas)

Project Overview
Jinzhao Yuan Refrigeration designed and delivered a large-scale 3,000㎡ dual-function cold storage and quick-freezing facility for a major food processing enterprise in Senegal, West Africa. This project represents one of our flagship overseas installations on the African continent.
Project Background
Senegal is a key hub for West African fisheries and agricultural exports. The client required both a conventional cold storage zone for long-term frozen product holding and a high-efficiency quick-freezing zone for processing fresh seafood and meat products. The dual-chamber design needed to operate reliably in Senegal’s tropical climate (ambient temperatures up to 42°C).
Solution & Technical Highlights
- Storage Type: Cold Freezer Storage + Quick-Freezing Storage (dual zone)
- Total Area: 3,000 ㎡ (2,000㎡ frozen storage + 1,000㎡ quick-freeze zone)
- Cold Storage Temperature: -18°C ~ -22°C
- Quick-Freeze Temperature: -35°C ~ -40°C
- Refrigeration System: High-capacity screw parallel compressor units; designed for high ambient temperature operation (≥42°C)
- Quick-Freeze Equipment: Industrial spiral freezer tunnel and blast freezing units for rapid product core temperature reduction
- Insulation: 200mm PU insulated panels for freezer; 250mm for quick-freeze zone
- Refrigerant: Eco-friendly R507/R449A (zero ODP, low GWP)
- Control System: Automated defrost cycles, energy monitoring dashboard, remote fault detection
Implementation
Given the challenging tropical environment and limited local technical resources, our team provided a full turnkey solution: foundation design consultation, equipment pre-fabrication, sea freight logistics, on-site assembly, system commissioning, and operator training. The project was completed on schedule within 5 months.
Results
- Processing capacity: up to 30 tons of seafood/meat per day through the quick-freeze tunnel
- Cold storage capacity: 1,500 metric tons of frozen product
- Energy consumption reduced by 18% compared to client’s initial specifications through our optimized system design
- System has maintained stable operation throughout Senegal’s extreme summer seasons
